Onlay

When a tooth is too damaged to support a tooth filling but not damaged enough for a full coverage crown, an onlay or partial coverage crown may be recommended.

Dental onlays are more durable and usually last longer than dental fillings.  It restores and strengthens the weakend portion of the tooth eliminating the need to grind away healthy tooth.  Material options for onlays are gold or ceramic.
