Dental Implant

A dental implant is one of the options to replace missing teeth.  A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into the jaw position of the missing tooth root.  This implant will act as an anchor to which a crown will be attached to.  A crown is then placed once bone is integrated.  They are as stable as your real teeth and protect you from the loss of jawbone, which occurs when you lose teeth.

Advantages of implants are:

  • A tooth can be replaced without the need to grind down adjacent teeth.
  • An implant also prevents the normal bone resorption that normally takes place in the area of the missing tooth following an extraction.
  • Dental implant provides a natural appearance and feel of a tooth.
